K.C.'s Day trips from Lake Placid

While on my vacation to Lake Placid last week, we took some daytrips out of town. (Some further than others). One of the more interesting places to me was a Star Trek tour. (yes I like Star trek and Star Wars). They took some of the old props from the old sets, and recreated them in Ticonderoga,NY.

Having watched the original series in rerun as a kid with my family, this was fun to see. We also heard stories of how they made certain props. Did you know the color of the uniforms were made that way, for those people watching on Black & White Tv's (so they could distinguish between the Yellows, Blues and REds...oh those poor red shirts).

Here's some pics

Were weren't allowed to touch anything, (as some of the items were over 50 years old), but I did get close to that chess piece.

I got to say, being on that transporter pad was REALLY cool.

Another thing we did in that area was to visit the Fort Ticonderoga, which has beeen around for 250 years!

That last picture, was me imitating Luke Skywalker staring into the lightsaber. (told you, I was a Star Wars Fan.

Another daytrip we took, was to a Rail-biking tour. Check out the Rail-bike.

You pedal on old railroad tracks, the grade wasn't too steep, but It was harder than I expected to pedal. It was only a 7 mile or so tour, so not too bad. But something different for me to try.

We also took some trips to Waterfalls

Those last few pictures were from Ausable Chasm, which was only a 1 mile trail...but then we paid to take a short raft trip....what we didn't know, is that it would be a 2 1/2 hour wait for the 15 minutes raft trip. Yes it was cool once you were on the raft, but that was WAAAAYYY to long to wait. We had to skip the winery and brewery we had planned that day.

The interesting thing about that raft trip, is how they return the boats....they drive them back to the top of the chasm, then lower than down on a pully.

Just some of the fun things we did outside Lake Placid.

I'll have more stories/pics for you on tomorrow's blog.

K.C.-ya!
