Tom Morello Shares Throwback Photo With 'Drama Club' Friend Adam Jones

Libertyville, Illinois has a population of less than 21,000 people, yet somehow two of them grew up to be rockstars.

On Monday (September 28), Tom Morello shared a throwback photo next to a recent photo of himself and his high school buddy Adam Jones, who plays guitar for Tool, on Instagram.

"How odd is it that two Drama Club friends from tiny Libertyville, Illinois who played together in a high school band called The Electric Sheep later became the guitarists for @toolmusic & @rageagainstthemachine?" he captioned the post. "Answer: very odd. @adamjones_tv #SomethingInTheWater"

Last year, Jones reminisced about his high school days playing with Morello. “Growing up, he was very animated. I always thought he'd be, like, this actor. He was in a lot of plays and I remember they had this band, and they were terrible. They were called The Electric Sheep," he said before poking fun of Morello's skills.

"...it's just amazing to me now how much Tom sucked at that moment when I met him, and now no-one can touch him,” he marveled.

If Morello sucked when he was younger, just think of how good Nandi Bushell will be when she's older. The 10-year-old viral sensation has been embroiled in a drum battle with Dave Grohl; however, that's not the only instrument she plays. Over the summer, Morello surprised her with his signature guitar and an inspiring video message.

“Hey Nandi, I’d like you to have this guitar as a gift from me to you because you rock so great, and to see someone rocking so great who is so young, it really gives me hope for the future,” he said. “I didn’t start playing guitar until I was 17 years old, so you are way, super-far ahead of me, and I look forward to hearing a lot more of your music in the future. You’ve got a lot of soul, and here’s a little Soul Power to go with it. Keep it up!”
