Surviving Soundgarden Members 'Embrace' Any Opportunity To Play Together

Kim Thayil might have thought that 2019's star-studded I Am A Highway Chris Cornell tribute concert was a bit of "a clusterf***," but he raved about being back on stage with his Soundgarden bandmates Matt Cameron and Ben Shepherd. Now, the guitarist is going one step further and declaring that he'd "embrace" any opportunity to play with with the guys, whether it's on stage or in a studio.

“It was so natural and fun to play with Brandi, and the twins, and playing with Ben and Matt is second nature for me,” he told Rolling Stone while discussing the band's recent Record Store Day collaboration with Brandi Carlile. “Any opportunity to play with all of them again whether live or in the studio, I would embrace without hesitation.”

“We felt honoured that [Brandi] asked us to take part in her Record Store Day project,” Cameron added. “We had a blast. I think most people assume the three of us over and done with since Chris passed away, but that’s not the case. It’s nice to know that people still want to hear us play together.”

Soundgarden hopes to put out an album of unreleased music featuring Cornell's vocals; however, has been embroiled in a legal battle with his widow Vicky over the rights of those songs.
