Art Garfunkel and Paul Simon have seen their fair share of ups and downs during their long-time friendship and musical career together. The former Simon & Garfunkel bandmates last played together 14 years ago, and in the time since Garfunkel has gone on record calling his former partner a "jerk" and "idiot." The pair recently had lunch together, which ended up being an emotional, tearful reunion. Garfunkel recalled the experience during a chat with NME, admitting that he "wanted to hurt" Simon when he made those comments.

“Paul said to me, ”Arty, it’s not that you spoke to the British press and that you didn’t do it well…[it’s that] I felt you wanted to hurt me," he said. "'That’s what got me.’ And I thought, ‘That’s true.’ I wanted to hurt him. The next thing I knew, I burst into tears… and then there were hugs.”

The duo was massively popular in the '60s but things fell apart after releasing their final album, 1970's Bridge Over Troubled Water. They've toured together since then, most recently performing together at 2010's New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival. Although Garfunkel blames himself for their breakup, last year Simon said it's not his fault they parted ways.
