It was announced late Friday afternoon that Neil Peart, the drummer for Rush, passed away last Tuesday after a 3 ½ year battle with brain cancer.
The artists I’ve seen most in concert in my life is Robert Plant, but second on my most seen artist is Rush.
I’ve seen them at least 4 times, including on their last tour back in 2015.Every time I was impressed with Neil Peart’s drumming. When I would get up to get a beer or use the restroom, I’d make sure to get a closer look at his skills. One thing Neil liked to do during concerts, was toss a drum stick very high up into the air, and catch without missing a beat.It was always fun to see.
Here’s a video of some of his drumming!
When Rush called it quits, it was easy to see that Geddy Lee & Alex Lifeson would like to continue, but it was Neil Peart who was done. Now, we know the TRUE story, that the band stopped, so Neil could battle brain cancer.Sadly, he lost that battle last Tuesday.
I’m grateful that I got to see him perform live many times.
My sympathies go out to his family, as well as his bandmates.
R.I.P. Neil Peart
K.C.-ya!
