Over this past memorial day weekend, I was able to see my brother in person for the first time in a year and a half. We normally get together for vacations at least 3 times a year. But because of covid....we had to pause all our vacations.
Thankfully, we both got vaccinated, and he was able to fly down.
I took advantage of the time we had together, as we hit 7 breweries,a distillery, played disc golf everyday and went bowling.
Our kayak trip was out of Bastrop on the Colorado River.
We did the 6-mile trip, and basically had the whole river to ourselves. We saw fish jumping, hundreds of turtles, and even a deer
As for the 7 breweries we went to, I picked him up from the Austin airport, and we went just a couple of miles to Hi-Sign brewery. Very Cool logos for their beers, I even bought a 6-pack to go, because of the logo.
After kayaking the next day, we hit Neighbors Market, a restaurant in Bastrop that makes their own beer. (and walked to Copper Shot Distillery)
next day we hit Lone Pint in Magnolia , and Frankenboltzzz in Montgomery
Lone Pint has a nice outdoor area, and a VERY Good BBQ food truck, Reveillie's I highly recommend the food truck.
The brewery also happened to have Live Music while we were there, which was awesome to hear.
Next day we stayed in B/CS, by going the Savage Lab and Black Water Draw.
The last brewery we hit, was on our way back to the Austin Airport...in fact it's so close, you can see a parking lot for a Park and Ride from their entrance. Live Oak Brewery. Another great outdoor venue. Plus I really like their "Big Bark" beer.
A quick visit, but we had fun....except when we got eaten alive my mosquitoes playing disc golf
But, after getting eaten, we got smart, and put on mosquito spray.
