According to a post on ZZ Top's Facebook page, ""We are saddened by the news today that our Compadre, Dusty Hill, has passed away in his sleep at home in Houston, TX.
We, along with legions of ZZ Top fans around the world, will miss your steadfast presence, your good nature and enduring commitment to providing that monumental bottom to the ‘Top'. We will forever be connected to that "Blues Shuffle in C.”
The band played a gig last weekend without him, saying that he returned to Texas to address a Hip issue. It looks to have been much more. They used their longtime guitar tech to fill in.
Dusty Hill was 72 years old
I'm glad I got to see ZZ top before his passing.
