Daytrip to Houston

On Saturday, I didn't go to Kyle Field for the George Strait concert, because I went down to Houston to see the Astros play the Detroit Tigers. Before the game I wanted to visit the St. Arnold brewery, unfortunately the brewery was closed due to a plumbing issue...but they said it would be fixed soon.

The did recommend a brewery that was just a mile away. Bad Astronaut

The brewery was in a warehouse with no air-conditioning, but did have some fans. They also had free pop ashot, foosball and pool tables.

The beer I had was pretty good too. There was also a food truck outside, so I picked up a couple of street tacos for 4 bucks. We then went back to St. Arnolds since they said the issues would be fixed within the hour....turns out...NOPE. So we went to another brewery that was just 0.4 miles away from Minute Maid Park, Frost Town Brewing

Thankfully they DID have air conditioning, and some good beers. They feature Kolsch style beers. I sampled their Hibiscus Kolsch, which was tasty as well as the "Squeeze Play" which was their orange kolsch beer. A pretty cool place to try some new beers before the game.

We got to the stadium an hour and a half before 1st pitch, but that still wasn't in time to get the giveaway...Hawaiian shirts. Oh well.

We had some pretty good seats along the 1st baseline

Unfortunately the prices inside the stadium are pretty high. a 25oz beer was 16 bucks!. a regular hot dog was 7 bucks.

As a Detroit Tiger fan I was happy with the outcome, a 13-5 win. for the record, I do root for the Astros when they aren't playing the Tigers.

Anyway...after the game we decided to go back to St. Arnolds, and this time they were open. I was able to get an Irish Hello on nitro, which was VERY tasty.

Unfortunately they didn't have their 30th anniversary Grand Cru available.

Still it was a fun daytrip to Houston.

K.C.-ya!
