Last night, the Houston Symphony performed Led Zeppelin songs at the C.W.M.P. with help from Windbourne, a band that includes former Zebra lead singer Randy Jackson.
It was a free show, so despite being on a weekday, I decided to check it out, since I"m a big Zepp fan.
Right as you walk in, there are plenty of picture taking options for fans.
We couldn't keep the blow up guitar, but it was fun to use it as a prop.
One thing they DID give you, was a free vinyl single (with no song, I think), that you could decorate however you wanted.
A nice fun free activity at the free show. I think it's interesting, they had all kinds of free stuff for the free show, while paid concerts have basically nothing free.
Here's my vinyl record, which I decided to commemorate the day.
They had several seats reserved for various people, but we did get seats in about row 26 (Row Z to be specific)
As for the show itself, here's the setlist
Good times bad times
Ramble on
Kashmir
Black dog
Thank you
Heartbreaker (guitar solo)
Misty mountain hop
Back to heartbreaker
Ocean
Intermission
Since I’ve been loving you
Dancing days(They brought a kid on stage to conduct the symphony)
Going to California
Moby Dick
All my love
Rock and roll
Whole lotta love
Immigrant song
Tangerine
Stairway to heaven
It was a fun setlist, and a fun concert. Unfortunately, a lot of times you couldn't really hear the symphony, but when I did it was cool.
The guitarist and drummer of Windbourne were good, I really liked the Moby Dick solo from the drummer. As for the singer, he was fine, but on the higher notes, it sounded too forced.
But...as I say it was a free show, and I'm glad I went, despite only getting 4 hours of sleep this morning before I to come up to the radio station.
Have a good one!
K.C.-ya!
