K.C.'s Vacation: Rock & Roll items, Beverages and Creatures

I mentioned on an earlier blog that I took a family vacation to the state of Washington last week. We specifically went to the tourist town of Leavenworth. Back in the day it was a mining town, but when the mine rain dry, the leaders decided to make it a tourist town...a German tourist town.

It's got mountains, and rivers so it's also quite scenic.

Since it's a tourist town, there are some interesting shops, including a nutrcracker shop and a christmas shop, where I saw some interesting rock & Roll ornaments

You know if they had a Led Zeppelin ornament, I would've had to buy it.

In another store, I saw some interesting lunch boxes.

And since it's a German town, they had a german store with some fun t-shirts

There were also several places to have a beverage. 3 breweries, one of which we happened to be in town at 11am and saw a line to get in....which I joined

Another brewery was kinda hidden out of the way....and SMALL 2 small rooms with an even smaller serving area.

That place was fun because it was so small, you ended up to talking to the other people in the brewpub.

There were several wineries around, but we only hit a couple because they tended to be pricey. one was $30 for a tasting of 3.

We chose this one, because it was the least expensive

Our group ended up being the only group in there, so the guy selling the tasting told us alot about the town. About how it was voted favorite christmas town by Good Morning America 3 times. And that because Good Morning America is filmed on the east coast, and they are on the west coast, the whole town had to be out and about at 3am for the 1 minute of "Live coverage" to celebrate them being named Best Xmas town in the country. He said they all got up....and then 30 minutes later went back to sleep.

WE also hit a couple of cideries while in the area. In fact just 40 minutes away is the apple capital of the United States Wenatchee, although we went to a brewpub there for lunch. and I didn't have any cider in that town. Ha!

We rented a house on a river(which was awesome). and the first morning we woke up, some family members were gonna go outside the front door to get some coffee from town, and they saw this out the front door.

Turns out deer were frequent morning visitors on that road (just a mile or so from town)

Another creature we saw that was fun to see....was a diving osprey. Several times we saw the bird dive into the water and come out with a fish. Luckily I was able to capture it once on my phone

There were also several other birds to watch. We liked the colors on this one.

Well, that's enough for today. In my next blog, I'll chat about some of the outdoor adventures we did.

Thanks for checking it out!

K.C.-ya!
