The Doors' Robby Krieger Partners With Maki Mae To Stop Asian Hate

Rock and Roll Hall of Fame guitarist Robby Krieger is partnering with singer and multi-instrumentalist Maki Mae to fight back against Asian hate with a virtual tour this year to benefit the Asian Hall of Fame's #StopAsianHate GoFundMe campaign.

Anti-Asian violence and open acts of hate against Asians of all nationalities have escalated by 3,600 percent around the world. Asian women are most vulnerable, having been victims of 68 percent of hate crimes against Asians in the U.S.

The Doors guitarist Krieger and Mae, who is also the CEO of the Asian Hall of Fame, joined together to condemn anti-Asian violence and advance Asian representation in the national narrative.

"It's a good cause and we're going to have a lot of great musicians playing, so check us out," Krieger said of the tour.

The duo will perform on Mother's Day, May 9, at 2 p.m., on July 17 at 6 p.m. and on September 18 at 6 p.m. Each concert will be available to livestream for free.

Krieger and Mae collaborated last year on Mae's Seasonal Songbook album, proceeds from which benefitted the Arts for All Program, which supports trauma, war and human trafficking survivors.

Donations will cover grief and mental health counseling and medical expenses for hate crime survivors. Donations are also being matched up to $250,000 by the Robert Chinn Foundation.

As of this writing, 99 donors had raise more than $80,000 towards the Asian Hall of Fame's $250,000 goal. Donate to the campaign here.
